The Uchigatana is a Katana in Elden Ring. The class's flexibility weapon and one of only two katanas that take an Ash of War.
When to Use It
Early game. It is found around Deathtouched Catacombs, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.
Why Players Pick It
- It reaches A Str on max Heavy at 258, A Dex on max Keen at 258, bleed on max Blood at 236, and B Arc on max Occult at 247, four different builds off one weapon.
- Lightest infusable katana at 5.5, cheapest requirements at Str 11 / Dex 15, and free to the Samurai.
Upgrades
- Upgrades with ordinary Smithing Stones to +25.
- Can be buffed with a grease or a spell, which a Somber weapon cannot.
Build
It scales Str D, Dex D, so Str and Dex are where the levels go.
- Requires Str 11, Dex 15.
- Takes any Ash of War and any affinity, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are levelling.
- Causes blood loss buildup (45), without any infusion needed.
