The Rapier is a Thrusting Sword in Elden Ring.

The Rapier is a piercing sword with a sharp, slender blade, built for quick successive thrusts and able to attack while guarding with a shield, though without a cutting edge it cannot slash. It is sold by the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold for 1,000 runes. Its critical rating of 130 is the highest of the thrusting swords, at the cost of less reach than the Estoc. A dodge during its charged strong attack turns it into a retreating slash, and a light attack after a backstep lunges forward with a counter thrust. It suits a Dexterity character who fights from behind a shield and lands ripostes and backstabs, and its speed makes it good for applying status effects.

Stats

The Rapier carries a 130 critical rating, tied for the second highest in the game, on a 2.5 weight blade with C Dexterity scaling at base and very low requirements. For pure critical hits the Miséricorde still edges it out, but the Rapier pairs that riposte damage with attacks from behind a shield, which a dagger cannot do.

Skill

Impaling Thrust costs 9 FP. The wielder gathers power, then lunges forward into a strong piercing thrust that punches through an enemy's guard. Most of the damage gets past a raised shield, which makes it a reliable answer to turtling enemies and players. The thrust can be parried. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.
