Elden Ring - Twinblades

Two hits land with every twinblade swing, which fills bleed and frost bars faster than anything with comparable attack rating, though the class wants both hands and gives up reach to do it.

Combat

Pros

• Twinblades excel at swift, long combos and build up status effects quickly, and the double-hit swing is the whole value of the class.
• Combined attack rating is the highest among curved swords, katanas, great katanas, twinblades and backhand blades. Euporia reaches 205 physical plus 245 holy for 450, tied with the Meteoric Ore Blade, followed by Gargoyle's Black Blades at 198 plus 237 for 435.
• The Twinblade, Twinned Knight Swords, Godskin Peeler, Gargoyle's Twinblade and Black Steel Twinblade all accept Ashes of War and every affinity.
• A Blood affinity reaches 100 bleed buildup, the highest of any fast Dexterity class alongside the Great Katana, while curved swords and katanas top out at 82.

Cons

• Range is short, and while twinblades can be wielded in one hand they are best used in both, since the one-handed moveset is the weak half of the weapon.
• They are heavy for the damage, at 6.0 to 8.5 weight for a maximum attack rating of 301, while a Great Katana carries 379 for 9.5.
• Only one of each twinblade can be acquired per playthrough, so powerstancing a matched pair requires New Game Plus or a drop from another player.
• Poise damage is unremarkable, from 84 on Eleonora's Poleblade to 100 on Gargoyle's Twinblade and Gargoyle's Black Blades at maximum Standard upgrade, with Gargoyle's Twinblade on Heavy reaching 110, and it is lower still in PvP.

Builds

Quality or Dexterity leads, depending on the weapon.

• Gargoyle's Twinblade is the Strength pick, with C Strength scaling at +0 and A on Heavy, the Godskin Peeler is the Dexterity pick, with A Dexterity on Keen, and the Twinned Knight Swords suit an even quality split.
• Arcane is the third fork: every infusable twinblade reaches B Arcane on Occult, and Blood gives 100 bleed buildup, which is where the double-hit moveset genuinely compounds.

Notes

• At the 100 bleed buildup that a Blood affinity reaches, Gargoyle's Twinblade keeps 253 attack rating, Twinned Knight Swords 251, Godskin Peeler 249 and the Twinblade 245.
• Occult affinity peaks at B Arcane scaling, with Gargoyle's Twinblade at 265, Twinned Knight Swords at 263 and Godskin Peeler at 261.
• The uncharged first heavy attack comes out quickly.
• Euporia's Luster is not gained from Those Who Live in Death, so its skill damage collapses in undead-heavy areas.
• Euporia and the Black Steel Twinblade belong to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
