The Ash of War: Prelate's Charge is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Flame Art affinity and the Prelate's Charge skill. It only turns up late in a run, in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Prelate's Charge slams the weapon into the ground to raise a surge of flames, then charges forward dragging it along the ground in a trail of fire. Holding the button keeps the charge going for as long as FP lasts, and releasing it ends with a launching upward strike. The many hits of fire and physical damage make it a strong tool for crowds and large, slow bosses. It suits Strength builds with greataxes, great hammers and colossal weapons, especially those leaning into fire.
Stats
It grants the Flame Art affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Keen, Heavy, Quality or Fire. The skill costs 7 FP. It fits Greataxe, Great Hammer and Colossal Weapon.
How to Get Ash of War: Prelate's Charge Guide
- Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab hanging from a tree near a cliff south of the Guardians' Garrison in the Mountaintops of the Giants, in a Fire Monk camp before the chain bridge.
- It can also be reached by crossing back over the chain bridge from the Giants' Gravepost Site of Grace.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
The charge locks the wielder into a long forward rush, so it should be aimed at targets that cannot easily sidestep it, such as large bosses or packed groups. The opening slam and the final strike can both be parried. Only the first and last hits apply the weapon's normal status buildup, so weapon buffs such as Bloodflame Blade work better than greases or innate bleed.
