The Great Stars is a Great Hammer in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

Carries 55 blood loss buildup and, per its in-game description, landing attacks slightly restores HP, the class's only sustain, stacked on top of a status effect. 135 base physical at 22 Str / 12 Dex and 10 weight, with Endure as its native skill. Found in a troll-hauled carriage between Road of Iniquity Side Path and the Writheblood Ruins.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 22 and Dex 12 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling. It also causes blood loss buildup (55) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Huge bludgeon with three stars at the striking end. Though primarily a striking weapon, the stars' spikes cause blood loss. A blood-stained star is an ill omen, a fact not lost upon those against whom this weapon is brought to bear. Landing attacks slightly restores HP.
