The Great Mace is a Great Hammer in Elden Ring. It is found in Liurnia of the Lakes, around the middle of a run.

The Great Mace is a huge bludgeon with sharp protrusions, an enlarged version of the Mace that keeps all the advantages of smaller bludgeons. It lies in a chest at an enemy camp with several trebuchets just outside the Grand Lift of Dectus in Liurnia of the Lakes. Its moveset is slow and its swings take some time to recover, but like other great hammers it deals very high poise damage, breaking guards and stances in few hits. It scales with Strength alone at C, needs 28 Strength and weighs 11.5, and it is especially effective against enemies weak to strike damage such as Crystalians and gargoyles. It suits a pure Strength character who enjoys the great hammer moveset.

Stats

The Great Mace is a clean pure-Strength choice with no Dexterity requirement, C Strength scaling on 134 physical and a 46 guard boost. With a Heavy affinity at max upgrade it reaches S Strength and deals excellent stance damage, 220 at its peak. It weighs 11.5 and comes with Endure.

Skill

Endure costs 9 FP. The wielder braces in an anchored stance that for three seconds raises damage negation by 45 percent and greatly boosts poise, so most attacks fail to stagger. Some light one-handed attacks even bounce off, though headshots and launching attacks can still interrupt the wielder. Heavy weapons take noticeably longer to enter the stance. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

Suggested Build

Played as a pure Strength stagger weapon, two-handed for heavy swings that break enemy stance quickly, especially against foes weak to strike damage.

Affinity	Heavy, since its only scaling is Strength; at very high Strength a Heavy Great Mace out-damages a Heavy Great Stars.
