The Ash of War: Storm Blade is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Quality affinity and the Storm Blade skill. It is available within the first few hours of a run.

Storm Blade surrounds the sword with shearing storm winds and fires them forward as a blade projectile with each diagonal slash. Repeated inputs keep firing in rapid succession at a lower FP cost, so it can pour out damage at range. The wind projectile has its own base damage and Strength and Dexterity scaling that changes with affinity, and up close both the slash and the projectile connect. It suits Strength and Dexterity sword builds that want a strong ranged attack.

Stats

It grants the Quality affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Keen, Heavy, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 10 FP. It fits Dagger, Throwing Blade, Straight Sword, Light Greatsword, Greatsword, Thrusting Sword, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana and Great Katana.

Skill

Chaining the skill is far more FP-efficient than single casts, so it is best fired in bursts against bosses and enemies at mid range. At melee range the slash and projectile hit together for much higher damage. The skill cannot be parried, and greases or infusions do not change the projectile's damage type.

"Lost skill of Stormveil. Surround armament with shearing storm winds that can be fired forward. Can be fired in rapid succession."

Good With

Weapons Claymore, Uchigatana, Longsword, Zweihander, Nagakiba
Affinity Keen or Heavy often outdamages Quality until both Strength and Dexterity are very high, so the affinity should follow the higher of the two stats.
Talismans Enraged Divine Beast, Shard of Alexander
Stats Strength and Dexterity
