The Zweihander is a Colossal Sword in Elden Ring. It is an early find in the Weeping Peninsula.

The Zweihander is just about the largest sword a mere man is capable of swinging, designed to be wielded in both hands, with a long, heavy and sharp blade that sends foes reeling with broad strokes and also delivers a devastating piercing thrust. It is sold by the Isolated Merchant in his shack at the far west of the Weeping Peninsula for 3,500 runes. It is the lightest colossal sword and the least demanding in stats, with a unique strong attack thrust and colossal poise damage. It scales with Strength and Dexterity at D and accepts Ashes of War, which makes it viable in almost any build.

Stats

The Zweihander is the cheapest way into colossal swords, with the lowest requirements and the lightest weight in the class at 15.5. It takes infusions, and a Keen infusion gives A Dexterity at max upgrade, the only realistic Dexterity option among colossal swords. It is sold by a merchant rather than guarded by a boss, so colossal reach arrives without a full Strength commitment.

Skill

Stamp costs 5 / 8 FP. The wielder braces the weapon and stamps into a low stance that keeps most enemy attacks from staggering the wielder, letting the wielder absorb a hit. Following with a strong attack unleashes a heavy upward strike for extra FP, while a normal attack instead flows into the second swing of the light combo at no FP cost. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.
