Elden Ring - Curved Greatswords

The jump-attack and Slash class: quick for its size since patch 1.09, with the best jumping motion values in the game on Bloodhound's Fang and colossal-tier Strength scaling on Beastman's Cleaver, but only 11 weapons deep and Slash-only, with nothing to offer a Faith or holy build.

Combat

Pros

• Bloodhound's Fang's jump attacks beat the rest of the class outright: motion values 118 / 142 / 128 / 151 for 1h jump R1, 1h jump R2, 2h jump R1 and 2h jump R2, against class values of 107 / 127 / 112 / 132. A 2h jumping R2 does 151% of the weapon's attack value.
• Best Strength scaling short of the Colossal Swords: Beastman's Cleaver and Freyja's Greatsword both reach A Strength on Heavy infusion.
• The one class of the three that reaches its top-tier weapon in Limgrave: Bloodhound's Fang drops from Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, and it is a Somber weapon so it needs no smithing-stone economy.
• Carries all three of blood, frost and a strong fire hybrid within 11 weapons: Bloodhound's Fang 55 bleed, Morgott's Cursed Sword 36 bleed, Zamor Curved Sword 65 frostbite, Magma Wyrm's Scalesword 74 fire at +0.

Cons

• Shallowest of the three at 11 weapons, and only 5 accept Ashes of War and affinities, Dismounter, Omen Cleaver, Monk's Flameblade, Beastman's Cleaver, Freyja's Greatsword.
• Every single weapon in the class is Slash damage type. There is no pierce or standard option anywhere, so a Slash-resistant enemy has no in-class answer.
• No Faith-scaling weapon and no holy damage at all in the class; Magma Wyrm's Scalesword and Horned Warrior's Greatsword are the only Faith requirements, and both are fire or physical.
• The moveset is largely uniform: all Curved Greatswords share the same light attacks except Zamor Curved Sword, and the same heavy attack except Omen Cleaver and Magma Wyrm's Scalesword two-handed. Picking a second one rarely gives you a new way to fight.

Builds

Str/Dex quality is the class default because Bloodhound's Fang, the most-used weapon here, is Somber with C Dexterity scaling and needs 18 Str / 17 Dex.

• If you are going Heavy instead, Beastman's Cleaver or Freyja's Greatsword to A Strength is where the class competes with colossal weapons.
• The next chunk of damage per level: this class rewards jump-attack investment more than raw stat scaling, the 2h jumping R2 at 151% motion value on Bloodhound's Fang multiplies whatever attack rating (AR) you have, so jump-attack talismans and a poise threshold that lets the jump land beat raw levels for a stretch.
• After that, Strength to the soft cap if Heavy-infused, Dexterity if you stay on Bloodhound's Fang.

Its passive raises the damage of Redmane battle skills by 10%, Flame of the Redmanes, Lion's Claw, Savage Lion's Claw and Roaring Bash, and the buff applies even when the sword is only held in the offhand, which makes it a support item for a completely different weapon.
Beastman's Cleaver		143	16.5	25	14	-	-	-	's own summary is that it has, in their words, incredible Strength scaling and guarding capability relative to its class, reaching A Strength on Heavy at 301 physical, 164 stance damage standard rising to 180 on Heavy, and the class's top guard boost at 52 base. The price is that it is the heaviest weapon in the class at 16.5 and needs 25 Strength. It drops from Azula Beastmen at a 2% base rate.
Bloodhound's Fang		141	11.5	18	17	-	-	-	Class-best jump attacks by a measurable margin: 2h jumping R2 at 151% motion value against the class standard 132%, and all four jumping attacks are elevated. Adds 55 hemorrhage buildup, upgrades with Somber Smithing Stones so it needs no stone farming, and drops from Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Limgrave. 345 physical at max standard puts it fourth in class on raw attack rating (AR) while beating everything on the attacks people actually use.
Zamor Curved Sword		125	9	16	18	-	-	-	The class's only frost weapon, 65 frostbite buildup, and the only Curved Greatsword whose light attacks differ from the shared class moveset. At 9 weight and 16 Str / 18 Dex it is one of the two cheapest weapons in the class to carry.
Morgott's Cursed Sword		120	7.5	14	35	-	-	17	The class's Dex/Arcane outlier: 7.5 weight: less than half the Beastman's Cleaver, a 110 critical multiplier (best in class), C Dexterity and D Arcane scaling at +0, and 36 bleed rising to 60 at max standard. The trade is a 35 Dexterity requirement and the class's lowest stance damage at 96, so it is a riposte-and-bleed weapon rather than a poise-breaker.

Notes

• Jump-attack motion values are the class's defining mechanic, and they are not uniform: Bloodhound's Fang runs 118 / 142 / 128 / 151 where every other Curved Greatsword runs 107 / 127 / 112 / 132. Motion value is the percentage of the weapon's attack value an attack deals, before enemy defence.
• Moveset uniformity: all Curved Greatswords share light attacks except Zamor Curved Sword, and share the heavy attack except Omen Cleaver and Magma Wyrm's Scalesword when two-handed. Bloodhound's Fang differs only in jump-attack numbers, not visually.
• Damage type is Slash on all 11 weapons: no pierce, no standard.
• Ash of War access: 5 of 11 take affinities (Dismounter, Omen Cleaver, Monk's Flameblade, Beastman's Cleaver, Freyja's Greatsword). Bloodhound's Fang, Zamor, Morgott's, Onyx Lord's, Magma Wyrm's and Horned Warrior's are Somber and locked to their skill.
• Stance damage runs 96 (Morgott's Cursed Sword) to 164 (Beastman's Cleaver) at max standard, and Heavy infusion pushes Beastman's Cleaver to 180, the class can match Colossal Sword poise-breaking, but only on that one weapon.
