The Claymore is a Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Limgrave, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 16 and Dex 13 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

A large sword with a long, straight blade. This heavy sword is usually wielded with two hands, but for those with enough strength, one is sufficient. In addition to the heavy sweeping attacks, it can also make a heavy piercing thrust, making this a versatile weapon.

How to Get Claymore Guide

  • Location: Castle Morne.
  • The is found at Castle Morne in a room attached to the central courtyard, tucked behind the burning pile of bodies. After ascending the elevator, march forward to the top of the hill, circle it clockwise, and continue onward past the palisades and through the doorway lit by a wall torch. The item is stored within a treasure chest behind several wooden barricades in a corner to the left. The misbegotten may follow the player into this room, depending on their route.
