Red Bear is a great boss in Elden Ring. It is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Red Bear is a former Redmane soldier who wants nothing more than to become a bear. He waits in the Northern Nameless Mausoleum, reached by breaking sealing stones and riding the spiritsprings up the cliff. He fights like a Tarnished with a raw bear claw and the power of the great red bears. The duel shuts out spirit ashes.
Lore
Red Bear is a feral man in blood-soaked armor reinforced with iron rivets. His helm has cheek guards shaped like lion fangs. He fights with the raw claw of a great red bear and glows with a pale light.
Red Bear was once a Redmane soldier, and his true name was lost to madness. He killed a great red bear in a blood-soaked bout and became fascinated by the untainted glory of its naked strength. He took its claw as a weapon without changing it. His only wish was to be a bear, no more and no less.

Attacks
- Claw combos: fast two-claw slashes that grow into four-hit strings later in the fight. A quick counter fits the short pause after each string.
- Bleed buildup: his claws build blood loss quickly. A longer weapon keeps him at bay.
- Bear Roar: he summons the head of a great red bear and roars twice in a wide area. Hitting him early interrupts it, and keeping distance avoids it.
- Roar of Rugalea: he switches to a seal and casts the bear roar. The cast is a safe time to attack.
- Healing flask: below half health he drinks once to heal a quarter of his health. Interrupting or punishing the drink helps.
Tactics
- Raise rune level and Scadutree Blessing before the fight.
- Fight with a longer weapon or careful dodges to avoid stacking blood loss.
- Counter quickly after each claw string, then back away.
- Interrupt his roar with a quick hit when close, or stay back when far.
- Punish his single flask heal, since he has no other heals.
- Apply frostbite for burst damage and to slow his attacks.
