The Black Flame is a Godskin Apostle incantation in Elden Ring. It is available within the first few hours of a run.
Black Flame is a black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles, whose weighty black fire keeps sapping HP after it lands. It throws a ball of black flame that deals fire damage and then burns the target for a share of its maximum HP, and charging raises the damage and makes the fireball explode. Because the burn depends on the target's maximum HP rather than Faith, it stays effective against bosses and enemies with large health pools even at low levels. It has better range than Scouring Black Flame, and a charged cast matches a charged Scouring Black Flame in damage, while the Godslayer's Seal boosts it. It suits faith builds of every level looking for a ranged boss-killing tool.
Stats
The Black Flame throws a ball of raging black fire that keeps sapping a share of the target's HP for a moment after the hit, so it stays effective against bosses with huge health bars. It costs 18 FP, charges into an explosion and gains 10% from the Godslayer's Seal.
Effect
Throws a ball of black flame that keeps burning the target for a share of its maximum HP for a short time; charging boosts damage and makes it explode. Each cast costs 18 FP and 25 stamina and takes up one memory slot.
How to Get Black Flame Guide
Black Flame is sold for 7,500 runes by Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows once one of them is given the Godskin Prayerbook. If both die before either receives the prayerbook, it cannot be bought in that playthrough.
- Rest at the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle, go outside and jump onto the roof across from the door.
- Drop down from the roof to the steps that lead into a cellar guarded by rats.
- Use a Stonesword Key on the imp statue to clear the fog and open the chest holding the Godskin Prayerbook.
- Give the Godskin Prayerbook to Brother Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold or Miriel, Pastor of Vows at the Church of Vows.
- Buy Black Flame from that teacher for 7,500 runes.
- If that teacher dies later, give their bell bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to buy it there for the same price.
