The Ancient Citadel is the capital of the Ancients in Cinder's Cradle. It sits at the very top of the Sky Islands, above every other island. The Mother Flame burns inside it. The final story quest leads here to stop the boss Vorgoth.
What Is Inside
The Citadel is already under siege by the Shroud when the player arrives. Ancient constructs still guard its halls, and the Ancient S.P.D.R. Construct boss waits nearby. Loraine Crim sends the player here to find the plans for a gem forge. An Ancient locked those plans away on an upper floor. A button below lights up the door above it, so the route can be seen from the ground. A second note lists what the forge is made of: Basalt, gold, Celestium, Moonstone and diamond. The painting The Last Spark lies a short walk from the Citadel.

Lore
The Citadel was the last haven of the Ancients. When the Shroud reached the islands, the Mother Flame called every Ancient home to the Citadel. One Ancient left a note before walking into the Flame. It says the others grabbed their most prized possessions in a panic. The writer carried nothing but knowledge. Heavy blocks of solid gold were left hidden close by, in the hope of a return. The boss Lord Vorgoth saw the Citadel from far below and called it the home of a weapon. He believed the Mother Flame would rain fire on his lands.
Notes
- The Cinder's Cradle - Citadel Ancient Spire is the fast travel point at the Citadel.
