The Charcoal Kiln is a stone drum the size of a small room, found in the Crafting Stations tab, that turns cordwood into fuel. Feed it logs and it gives back Coal, which every Smelter and Forge in your base constantly needs.
How to Build It
You build it from twenty Stone and five Surtling Cores taken from a Burial Chamber, within range of a Workbench. With 1,500 durability it is the toughest thing in most early bases. It lights and heats itself, so it works without a roof or a fire of its own. It will burn plain Wood, Fine Wood or Core Wood without asking, so keep your good timber well away from it and feed it the cheap stuff.
