The Copper Knife is made for the quiet kill from behind, and the copper dug out of the Black Forest is the first metal the forge can put a proper edge on. It deals 12 slash and 12 pierce. That is 24 damage in total, which ranks 5th among knives, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts a Troll more than most things do, and that is the reason to carry it.
How to Craft
Crafted at a level 1 forge from:
- 2x Wood: Chopped from any tree.
- 8x Copper: Smelted from copper ore in a smelter.

When to Use It
Early game. It needs Black Forest materials, so it comes after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other stat on this page is for quality 1, so the table below shows the ladder your own copy sits on:

Properties
The sneak attack is the point of this weapon. It deals 6 times damage to an enemy that has not seen you, where everything else in the game deals 3. The secondary attack is a 5 metre forward leap at 3x. Land both together out of stealth and the fight is often over before it starts.
Each swing deals 12 and 12 for 6 stamina. That is more than double the Flint Knife and still one of the cheapest swings in the game, which is what makes a knife build work in the Black Forest, where Greydwarves come in threes.
Notes
- Its 6x sneak attack bonus only works on an enemy that has not noticed you. Hitting an enemy from behind while it is busy fighting someone else does not trigger it.
- The primary attack is a three-hit combo. The first two hits deal normal damage and the third deals double, and the whole combo takes 1.74 seconds.
- Knives have very little knockback, so the target stays within reach for the whole combo instead of being pushed away.
