The Early Axes is an axe in Valheim, dealing 30 slash and 35 chop. At 65 total damage it is 13th of the 15 axes, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.

How to Craft

Crafted at Workbench, station level 1.
Costs 1x Curious axe head, 1x Mysterious axe head, 4x Wood at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Meadows biome.

When to Use It

Opening hours. Everything it takes comes out of the Meadows, so this is gear for a character who has just stood up.

Properties

The first dual-wield weapon in the game. The primary is a 4-step combo that lands 6 hits: one with each axe, then 2 movements that swing both at once, the last pair at double damage each. The secondary costs 16 stamina to leap forward and slash with both for 2x.

And it cuts what a bronze axe cuts. Birch, Oak and the Ancient Tree, out of a Workbench, which is a tier of woodcutting ahead of where it is found.

2 rare heads, one house. The Curious and Mysterious axe heads come out of chests in 2 specific variants of the Abandoned House, so this is a find rather than a plan.

Notes

The name is a joke about Early Access, and the in-game description plays it straight: mighty weapons from a time when the world was young and incomplete.
