How to Craft

Crafted at Black forge, station level 3.
Costs 10x Ashwood, 8x Flametal, 2x Asksvin hide at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Ashlands biome.

When to Use It

Late game. Flametal is in the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes and, until 1.0, the hardest biome in the game.

Properties

The middle option, and the one that parries. Less raw block armour than the tower shield of its tier, but a round shield can parry, and a parry staggers the attacker into double damage for as long as the stagger lasts.

114 armour, 171 on a parry. The best round shield in the game, and against the Flametal tower shield's 140 it trades 26 points of block for the ability to stagger what hits you.

Notes

A block consumes up to 10 stamina in proportion to the damage that got through, and fails if that leftover damage fills your stagger bar, 40% of maximum health, or if the stamina is not there.
Block force is the knockback dealt back to a melee attacker, scaling from 50% to 100% with the block armour actually used.
Parry bonuses are published per weapon type as well: 4x on a knife and 6x on flesh rippers, which beat every shield, though only on the weapon's own small block armour.
