Flametal Tower Shield gives up the parry in exchange for a wall, and that is the trade you want when Charred marksmen are shooting arrows at you across the Ashlands. It has 140 block armour.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 3 Black Forge with:
- 15x Ashwood: Chopped from scorched trees in the Ashlands.
- 10x Flametal: Smelted from Flametal Ore in a Blast Furnace.
- 5x Asksvin Hide: Dropped by Asksvin in the Ashlands.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ashwood | Ashlands | - | spawn Blackwood
| |
| Flametal | Ashlands | Blast Furnace | spawn FlametalNew

| Asksvin Hide | Ashlands | - | spawn AskHide
|
When to Use It
This is late-game gear. Flametal comes from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. All other figures on this page are for quality 1, so use this table to see where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Block armor | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 3) | 140 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Black forge (Level 4) | 146 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Black forge (Level 5) | 152 | 300 |

Properties
It has the highest block armour of any shield in the game: 140, backed by 150 block force. You craft it from Flametal at a Black Forge.
A tower shield cannot parry. While drawn it costs 10% of your movement speed and raises the cost of a dodge roll by the same 10%. In exchange it blocks harder than anything else in its tier. What you give up is the parry, which staggers the attacker so it takes double damage.
That is the real question in the Ashlands. The Charred come in numbers and hit from several directions at once, while a parry only answers one attack at a time. This is the shield for being surrounded.
Notes
- A block uses up to 10 stamina, in proportion to the damage that got through. It fails if that leftover damage fills your stagger bar (40% of maximum health) or if you run out of stamina.
- Block force is the knockback sent back to a melee attacker. It scales from 50% to 100% with the block armour actually used.
- Parry bonuses are also set per weapon type: 4x on a knife and 6x on Flesh Rippers. Both beat every shield, though only on the weapon's own small block armour.
