The Blast Furnace is the later, bigger furnace: a 2x2x4 tower of Stone, Iron and Finewood built around Surtling Cores, listed with the crafting stations. It smelts the ores a regular Smelter refuses into bars: Black Metal Scrap, Flametal Ore and Petrified Tissue.

How to Build It

Building it costs 20x Stone, 5x Surtling Core, 10x Iron and 20x Finewood. It will only place with an Artisan Table in range, so build that first. Like the Smelter, it burns Coal, and rain does no harm to its 2,000 durability. While it runs it gives off the fire effect for a few paces, so leave a gap around it instead of boxing it in with benches.
