Every Needle Arrow is tipped with a needle pulled from a dead Deathsquito, so the Plains ends up arming the bow you turn against it. It deals 62 pierce. With 62 total damage it ranks 13th among ammunition, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts Troll more than most mobs, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 4 workbench from:
- 4x Needle: dropped by deathsquitos in the Plains.
- 2x Feathers: dropped by crows and gulls, and found in chests in the Meadows.

When to Use It
Mid game. Needles drop from Deathsquitos in the Plains, the biome after Moder.
Properties
It deals 62 pierce, the next step up from the obsidian arrow. After it, the chain continues with the carapace arrow.
Needles drop from Deathsquitos in the Plains, which is a fair trade: the thing that kills you in one hit supplies the arrows that stop it.
Notes
- Ammunition damage is added to the weapon's own damage before anything else is worked out, which is why the loaded arrow or bolt, not the bow, decides what type of damage a shot deals.
- Bows shoot arrows and Crossbows shoot bolts, and neither can use the other's ammunition.
- With more than one kind in the inventory, right-click a stack to choose which one is shot.
