To catch Pike you need to cast from a boat or make a very long throw off a headland. They patrol the deeper water off the Meadows and Black Forest, further out than the perch in the shallows.
How to Get It
Ordinary fishing bait from Haldor works. So does cold fishing bait, which you make at a food preparation table from twenty bait and a fenring trophy from the Mountains. Pike roam a wide circuit instead of staying in one spot, so lead your cast and expect to recast. Once hooked, they tire quickly. A raft or a karve gets you out over the right water.
Quality
Fish do not carry stars. Instead each fish has a quality from 1 to 5, rolled when it spawns. In most waters there is a 20% chance to step up a level, and in the Ashlands and Deep North that chance is 15%. A higher quality fish is visibly larger and heavier, and it cleans into more raw fish at a food preparation table.

It has a line of its own: "You're supposed to put heads on a pike, not put a pike on a wall..."
