The Ash of War: Barbaric Roar is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Heavy affinity and the Barbaric Roar skill. It is picked up mid-game, in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Barbaric Roar lets out a bestial roar that buffs the weapon for 40 seconds, raising its physical attack power. While the buff lasts, heavy and charged heavy attacks turn into savage three-hit combos that chain into a further follow-up shaped by the weapon class. These altered attacks deal heavy stance damage, especially on greatswords, colossal weapons and great hammers. It suits Strength builds that want to trade blows and break enemy stance with heavy attacks.

Skill

Roar before engaging or during a gap in a boss's pattern, then press heavy attacks to run the combo and its follow-up. The buff counts as a weapon buff, so it replaces greases and armament-buffing spells instead of stacking with them. The full combo commits the wielder for a long time, so it is best used on staggered or slow enemies.

"Let loose a bestial roar to rally the spirit and increase attack power. While active, strong attacks change to savage combo attacks."
