The Ash of War: Phantom Slash is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Quality affinity and the Phantom Slash skill. It becomes available in the middle of a run.
Phantom Slash summons the ghost of the Night's Cavalry instructor, who lunges forward alongside the wielder in a joint upward swing. An additional input adds a second sweeping follow-up attack. The phantom covers the same fixed distance every time, giving the skill strong reach and two solid hits of stance damage on polearms and twinblades. It suits Quality builds running halberds, spears or reapers.
Stats
It grants the Quality affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Keen, Heavy, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood or Occult. The skill costs 8 FP. It fits Twinblade, Spear, Halberd and Reaper.
How to Get Ash of War: Phantom Slash Guide
- Dropped by the Night's Cavalry that patrols the Forbidden Lands at night, northeast of the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace.
- Once obtained, it can be duplicated by trading Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Skill
Because both attacks always travel the same distance, the skill lands best when the wielder sets the range first and uses it against slower targets. Sprinting sideways or backwards before activation sends the phantom at the target while the wielder moves away, which lets it hit enemies in the middle of long combos. Both of the wielder's attacks can be parried, although the phantom itself cannot.
