Frenzied Duelist is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Frenzied Duelist is a hulking gladiator who guards the end of Gaol Cave in Caelid. He swings a huge greataxe with an iron ball on a chain hanging from its hilt. His combos are slow but long and reach far. Defeating him earns the Putrid Corpse Ashes.
Lore
The duelist is a muscular warrior in light bronze armor decorated with serpents. He wields a colossal greataxe with a chain and iron ball hanging from its pommel.
Duelists once fought in the colosseums to honor the Erdtree in the time of Lord Godfrey. The serpents on their armor stood for a traitor to the tree, and the crowds cheered to see them battered.
When the colosseums closed in the age of Lord Radagon, the gladiators were banished and scattered across the land.

Attacks
- Axe Swings: long chains of greataxe swings; dodge away or roll behind him and strike.
- Ball and Chain Swing: he swings the iron ball on the hilt up to four times at growing range; stay behind him, since it only hits in front.
- Axe Chain Swing: he twirls the axe overhead in two wide arcs; roll left once for each arc.
- Axe Charge: he plants the axe head and charges forward; roll aside and watch for the follow-up swing.
- Running Attack: he runs in with the axe raised and spins twice; roll twice, then counter.
- Stomp: a quick stomp against foes behind him; roll left or right.
- Grab: he raises his right hand, crouches and lunges for a heavy grab; walk behind him or roll aside.
- Braggart's Roar: a roar that raises his attack and defense; attack freely while he roars.
Tactics
- Roll through his attacks and end up behind him, where most of his moves cannot reach.
- Go for backstabs during his slow recoveries.
- Guard counter his slow swings with a solid shield.
- Wait for a combo to finish before attacking; his chains can run six hits.
- Stay close or far away, avoiding the medium range that triggers the Axe Chain Swing.
Best Builds
Slash or bleed weapon
He takes extra damage from slashing attacks, and bleed builds up well.
Stun lock sorcery
Gavel of Haima keeps him staggered.
