The Coded Sword is a Straight Sword in Elden Ring.
When to Use It
Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.
Why Players Pick It
Zero physical damage, 85 holy at +0 rising to 208 with A Faith at max standard, and it requires no Strength or Dexterity whatsoever, 20 Faith is the entire cost. Its Unblockable Blade skill ignores shields.
Upgrades
It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.
Skill
Unblockable Blade costs 18 FP. Imbue the cipher blade with light, extending its length, then strike with a sudden sweeping attack. This attack cannot be blocked. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.
Build
Its scaling runs Fai at B, so Fai is the stat worth levelling, and you need Fai 20 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.
Notes
Hidden sword once granted to the Tarnished of the Roundtable by the Two Fingers. A formless cipher comprises its blade, which deals holy damage no shield can repel. Champions would gather at the Roundtable Hold in days long past, when the Two Fingers were masters of oration, their flesh yet full of vigor.
How to Get Coded Sword Guide
- The Coded Sword can be found on the upper floor of the Fortified Manor in Leyndell, Royal Capital, in the room that mirrors the one that the Two Fingers of the Roundtable Hold can be found it.
- This weapon cannot be acquired once the Tarnished has defeated Maliketh.
