The Rotten Butterflies is an incantation in Elden Ring, from the Servants of Rot school. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.
Rotten Butterflies is the incantation of Romina, Saint of the Bud, who soothed the scarlet butterflies, wings of the Goddess of Rot, when they were left without a master. The caster rises in a gentle twirl of butterflies that hit nearby foes, then the whirl bursts in a chain of explosions, all of it building enormous amounts of scarlet rot. The rot then drains a share of the target's maximum HP over time, so the spell is strongest against tough, high-health enemies. Like most airborne attacks it grants brief immunity to grabs, and it cannot be charged or cast on horseback. It suits rot-focused faith builds that want to inflict scarlet rot quickly at close range.
Effect
Rises in a twirl of scarlet butterflies that burst on contact in a chain of explosions, building heavy scarlet rot. Each cast costs 48 FP and 50 stamina and takes up one memory slot.
