Morgott, the Omen King is a legendary boss in Elden Ring.

Morgott, the Omen King is the self-proclaimed last of all kings and the true face of Margit, the Fell Omen. He guards the Elden Throne at the heart of Leyndell, Royal Capital. He fights with a cane sword, conjured holy weapons and, in the second half, cursed blood. His defeat is required to move on to the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Lore

Morgott is a towering, hunched Omen with a long tail and horns that were never cut away. He leans on a wooden staff that hides a curved blade. He conjures holy weapons of golden light, and later his own cursed blood bursts into flame.

Morgott was born to the golden lineage as a son of Godfrey and Queen Marika, and twin brother of Mohg. Both twins were born as accursed Omen and confined below the capital. Because they were royal, their horns were never removed. Morgott renounced his cursed blood and sealed it inside a blade hidden in his staff.

When the Elden Ring shattered, Morgott claimed a Great Rune that proved he was the true lord of Leyndell. Reviled by the Golden Order, he still made himself protector of the Erdtree. Under the name Margit he slaughtered the champions who sought the throne.

Phases

Phase 1: Morgott fights with his cane sword, holy daggers, a holy hammer and a holy spear. At 80% health he calls down a rain of holy swords.
Phase 2: rain falls on the arena and he unleashes his cursed blood in flaming attacks.

Attacks

Holy Hammer and Overhead Slam: a conjured hammer swung and slammed down. Rolling into him at a distance makes him finish with a sword combo that leaves a big opening.
Holy Swords Rain: a volley of holy swords falls from above. Running sideways or rolling as they land avoids them.
Spear Throw and leap: he hurls a holy spear and then leaps with a downward stab. Keeping distance and dodging the leap opens room for two charged attacks.
Sword spin combo: a spinning holy sword combo that ends in a slam. The finisher has a long recovery.
Cursed blood strikes: in phase two his swings burst into flaming blood. Each one can be punished after it ends.
Hop away slash: a backward leap with a slash. A light attack catches him on landing.

Tactics

Summon Melina from her sign at the top of the stairs, or Dung Eater if he was released from his cell.
Equip the Haligdrake Talisman to cut his holy damage, and keep a shield ready.
Use Margit's Shackle twice in phase one to pin him for free hits.
Stand just in front of his left leg and dodge behind it for safe punishes.
Punish big recovery moves, combo finishers and his hop away.
Use slash damage, and lightning in phase two when the arena is wet.
Parry him three times to open a critical hit.

Best Builds

Dexterity curved sword

Morgott is weakest to slash, and curved swords and curved greatswords chain fast slashes.

Strength heavy weapon

His low stance lets fists, greatswords and hammers stagger him often.

Incantations

Catch Flame, Frenzied Burst and Lightning Spear all work well, and lightning grows stronger once rain falls.
