The Poleblade of the Bud is a Halberd in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is found around Land of Shadow in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Why Players Pick It

320 physical at max standard with B Arcane and 55 innate scarlet rot, the only rot halberd. Shares the Guardian's Swordspear / Loretta's War Sickle R1 chain. Somber, fixed skill, no buffs, and it comes from a Remembrance so it is a late pick.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Romina's Purification costs 24 FP. Imbues bud-blade with scarlet rot butterflies before unleashing two large sweeping slashes. This was once considered a sacred act of purification. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at D and Arc at D, so Dex and Arc are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 14, Dex 22 and Arc 20 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes build-up of Scarlet Rot (55) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Weapon of Romina, Saint of the Bud. A scarlet glaive with a dangling bud-like blade. Attacks cause buildup of rot. Once, in the crumbling, burning church, Romina held the bud in speechless silence. That bud would become her blade.
