Ectoplasm

Ectoplasm

Type	Alchemy Ingredient
Source	Ghosts
Base Value	25
Weight	0.1
First Effect	Restore Magicka

Ectoplasm is what a ghost leaves behind. It is an uncommon alchemy ingredient carrying Restore Magicka, Fortify Destruction, Fortify Magicka and Damage Health, and the only smithing job it has is improving the Ghostblade. Forty guaranteed samples are scattered across 27 locations.

Drops

Every variety of ghost drops it, including dragon cultists, sanctuary guardians and spectral warhounds. The inhabitants of the Soul Cairn carry it too: Mistmen, Wrathmen and Bonemen all have a decent chance of dropping a bowl, and chests down there sometimes hold it as well.

As an uncommon ingredient every apothecary has a 15 per cent chance of stocking one to five samples. The College of Winterhold is the richest fixed source, with five in the Hall of Countenance alone.

Notes

It is regularly confused with glow dust, which comes from wispmothers and shares none of its effects. Check the name rather than the look.

The Fortify Destruction on ectoplasm has a base magnitude of 4 where every other ingredient uses 5. That only shows up when it is combined with nightshade, in which case the resulting potion comes out 20 per cent weaker than a normal custom brew.

Alchemy Effects

It pairs with 67 other ingredients.
