A Daedra Heart is a crafting material in Skyrim and the reason a full Daedric set takes planning. Every piece of Daedric equipment consumes one at the forge, on top of the Ebony Ingots.
Notes
The skill requirement for Daedric Smithing is level 90, but the material is the harder gate. Hearts are not mined and cannot be bought in bulk. They drop from Dremora, sit in a small number of fixed places in the world, and restock slowly at a handful of alchemy merchants.
Tempering, by contrast, needs only an ebony ingot. Once a set is made, keeping it improved costs nothing unusual. The hearts are a one-off expense per piece forged.
It is also an alchemy ingredient, which is worth remembering before grinding potions with a stock you were saving for armour.
