The Banded Shield is the shield you build once the Swamp crypts start giving up iron: a round wooden shield bound with iron hoops at the Forge. It has 42 block armour, or 63 when you parry with it at its 1.5x bonus.
How to Craft
It is crafted at a level 2 Forge from:
- 10x Finewood: chopped from Birch and Oak trees with a Bronze Axe or better.
- 8x Iron: smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finewood | Meadows | - | spawn FineWood
| |
| Iron | Swamp | Smelter | spawn Iron
|
When to Use It
This is early game gear. Iron comes from Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so you get it once The Elder is down.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. All stats quoted elsewhere are for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Block armor | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 2) | 42 | 200 | |
| 2 | Forge (Level 3) | 48 | 250 | |
| 3 | Forge (Level 4) | 54 | 300 | |
| 4 | Forge (Level 5) | - | - |
Properties
It is the middle option, and the one that parries. It has less raw block armour than the tower shield of its tier, but a round shield can parry, and a parry staggers the attacker so they take double damage for as long as the stagger lasts.
It has 42 armour, or 63 on a parry at 1.5x. That means less block power than the Iron Tower Shield, but more when parrying, because the tower shield cannot parry at all.
Notes
- You choose the design and colour with the style button at the crafting bench, and you cannot change them once the shield is made.
