A Workbench on its own only takes you so far, and the Tanning Rack is the first extension that lifts it past that ceiling. It is a frame of stretched drying hides, listed under Crafting Stations and built from Wood, Flint and the skins a hunter brings home. You do not craft at it: it stands beside the bench and raises the bench's level, which opens the better recipes and lets you push worn gear to a higher quality.
How to Build It
It costs 10x wood, 15x flint, 20x Leather Scraps and 5x Deer Hide. The rack will only place with a workbench already standing nearby, because an extension has to attach to a parent bench to count for anything. Set it close, almost touching. A rack pushed across the room looks the part while the bench quietly stays at its old level, and every recipe you were hoping for stays greyed out. Like the bench, it is a wooden structure, so keep it under a roof or the rain will wear it down.
