Every Deer you bring down in the Meadows drops Deer Hide, which makes it the first proper crafting material most Vikings carry home.
How to Get It
Deer bolt as soon as they see you, so a crouched approach with a bow beats a chase on foot. No tool tier gates them, and a Crude Bow or a Flint Spear is plenty. Hides also turn up in the treasure chests of troll caves in the Black Forest, and they drop from the roofs of Fuling villages when you knock the thatch apart. Deer keep spawning in the Meadows, so a shortage usually means you have hunted out the ground around your own base and need to walk further.
