Grottore is a Spriggan, one of the Relicts. It is a strong, named monster that lives in a cave in Toussaint, northwest of Beauclair Palace. It is hunted in a level 45 contract, so it belongs to the late part of the game.
Lore
Spriggans are a lesser branch of the Leshen family. They live in remote woods that people rarely visit. A Spriggan usually leaves humans alone unless provoked. Once angered, it becomes a fearsome foe. It is very strong and can do great damage. Its appetite is just as large: it can eat more meat than an army at a wedding feast.
Every Spriggan rules the plants around it and is bound to them for life. Anyone who destroys the greenery in its domain soon meets the Spriggan in person. It comes at once to punish the culprit.
In Toussaint, a young knight named François was engaged to a noblewoman named Jacquette. François vowed before her to slay the monster in the cave. François set out for the cave and did not come back. The worried Jacquette begged a witcher to learn the young knight's fate.
Behaviour
Grottore makes its lair in a cave northwest of Beauclair Palace. Many bodies lie at the cave's entrance, a warning of what waits inside. The cave is overgrown with plants, and Grottore guards them as fiercely as any Spriggan. It stays hidden deep inside until something threatens its greenery.
Weaknesses
Coat the silver sword with Relict Oil. Igni is its great weakness, so cast it at every chance. Dimeritium Bombs also work well against it.
Grottore fights much like a Leshen. It teleports around the cave and attacks with wide swings of its powerful limbs. Watch where it takes shape again after each teleport.
Grottore also calls Archespores into the fight. These cursed plants spit poison from a distance and can wear down a careless fighter. Clear them away to cut down the damage taken during the fight.

Grottore is the target of Feet as Cold as Ice, a contract in Toussaint. Jacquette, a young noblewoman, starts it near the Nilfgaardian Embassy in Beauclair. The contract can also begin at the cave itself, where François le Goff sits asleep at a camp. The young knight means to fight Grottore to keep the vow.
François can have help in the fight or face Grottore alone. Alone, the knight is crushed to death. Side by side with a witcher, François survives and fulfills the vow. Afterwards, Grottore's trophy decides the ending. Given the trophy, François returns to Jacquette to prepare their wedding. Kept, it leaves François free to ride off in search of another monster. Grottore's body holds the sword Fen'aeth.
