The Golem is one of the Elementa: mindless matter brought to life by a spell. Golems stand guard in caves and old ruins across the world. Several of them block the way in main quests.
Lore
Vilmir Brass, a foreman at Mount Carbon, once summed up a golem's worth. Breaking through a certain wall, he said, would take twenty sappers, seven mules and a hundredweight of saltpeter. Or one golem.
A golem obeys its creator's orders without question. It has endless strength and endless patience. It can withstand pain, and it needs no food or drink at all. That makes it the best servant or guard anyone could ask for.
Behaviour
Once provoked, a golem never tires of battle. It fights until it has crushed its opponent or crumbled to dust itself. It feels no fear and shows no mercy.
Weaknesses
Coat the silver sword with Elementa Oil and bring Dimeritium Bombs. A golem does not bleed. Fire and poison do nothing to it. Its body is as hard as the rock it is sometimes cut from, so even a silver blade barely wounds it. Keep Quen up, and drink a Thunderbolt potion to finish the fight faster.
A golem uses no weapon. Its fists weigh over a hundred pounds each and can crush solid granite. No shield can stop such a blow, and no sword can parry it. Watch for three attacks: a heavy charge, a smash on the ground and wide, sweeping strikes. After a sweep, roll in and strike its back with a strong attack.
A golem moves surprisingly fast. Its huge weight makes it clumsy, though. Once it starts a charge, it cannot stop quickly. Roll out of its path and hit it as it passes.

A golem guards the way in Wandering in the Dark, a main quest with the sorceress Keira Metz. The golem waits beyond a portal, behind a door that opens to reveal it. A Thunderbolt potion helps here, and its charge is the attack to fear most.
In Child of the Elder Blood, Yennefer and Ciri try to open a sealed door. Their spell wakes one of the golems that stand guard there, and it has to be destroyed.
In The Sunstone, on Ard Skellig, the sorceress Philippa Eilhart leads the way into an ancient crypt. A golem stands in the path inside, and it must be defeated before the search for the Sunstone goes on.
