Drinks
Drinks cover every soft drink, water, tea, coffee and alcohol in Night City. A soft drink or a coffee gives V the Hydration status, which makes Stamina refill faster for a few minutes. Alcohol works the other way and makes V drunk. The Afterlife bar serves cocktails named after the legends of Night City. Drinks suit any build that shoots or swings a blade, and the cocktails suit a player who enjoys the city's stories.
Effects
Drinks fall into two groups. Soft drinks, water, tea and coffee give Hydration. Alcohol gives the Drunk status.
Hydration. Drinking a soft drink, a bottle of water, a tea or a coffee applies Hydration. Hydration makes Stamina refill faster. The status lasts about seven and a half minutes, the same as the Nourishment status from food. Every Hydration drink gives the same buff. A can of NiCola, a Cirrus Cola or a cup of Coffee all do the same job. Stamina drains with each shot and with each melee attack, so faster regeneration keeps V fighting longer between pauses.
Alcohol. Every alcoholic drink applies the Drunk status. Drunk blurs V's vision. It lowers movement speed and halves weapon accuracy. The status lasts about half a minute. Several drinks in a row stack the effect. Beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila and sake all work the same way in play.
Cocktails. The Afterlife is the bar of Night City's mercenaries. It names drinks after legends once they die. Claire, the bartender, serves The Johnny Silverhand, The Jackie Welles and The David Martinez. Each cocktail is alcohol, so it makes V drunk like any other drink.
Pros
- Hydration drinks are cheap and give a free Stamina buff.
- A meal and a drink together cover both Health and Stamina before a job.
- The Afterlife cocktails carry the story of the characters they are named after.
Cons
- Hydration is a small buff and fades after a few minutes.
- Alcohol gives no bonus in a fight and halves weapon accuracy.
- Drinking several rounds stacks the Drunk penalty.

The Jackie Welles is a shot of vodka with lime juice and ginger beer. Its description adds a splash of love. Jackie gave Claire the recipe and asked her to remember it for the day he became a legend. The Johnny Silverhand is a tequila old fashioned with a splash of beer and a chili garnish. The David Martinez is vodka on the rocks topped with NiCola. David comes from the series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Character Builds
Hydration helps every build that relies on Stamina.
- Gunner. Each shot drains Stamina. A Hydration drink keeps the bar refilling faster between bursts.
- Blade fighter. Each melee attack drains Stamina too. Hydration shortens the wait between combos.
- Long-lasting setup. The Stamina Booster and Jellytricity raise Stamina regeneration for half an hour. The Military-Grade Lactic Acid Recyclers raise it for good. Hydration adds a little more on top.
Alcohol belongs outside combat. Its accuracy penalty works against every ranged build.
Notes
- Food vendors sell soft drinks, coffee and alcohol across Night City.
- Bartenders sell alcohol in the bars of the city.
- The Afterlife is in Watson. To get a cocktail, talk to Claire, ask for a new drink and pick it from the menu.
- The Jackie Welles joins the Afterlife menu after Jackie's death in the main story.
- Hot Roddy's Road-Ready Coffee (recalled) is a Phantom Liberty coffee from the food vendor at the EBM Petrochem Stadium in Dogtown.
