DLC Phantom Liberty

Birds with Broken Wings is the Phantom Liberty main job in which V prepares to take the place of one of Hansen's netrunners. Alex and Solomon Reed plan to hijack the netrunners' car through the tracking stations of Charon Exotics. Along the way, Songbird meets V in secret and confesses what she has hidden. The job ends at Farida's clinic in Dogtown, where V gets a new face.

Story

The Plan

Johnny's journal entry is full of doubt. He always thought that show business was where no one could be trusted, but agents are worse: a knife in the back is guaranteed, and probably from a friend. V is being played, he says, but with their lives at stake there is little choice. He asks V to stay alert at all times.

A day after the party, Reed calls V to Alex's safehouse under the Moth. The plan is to stop the twin netrunners on their way to Hansen, take their identity, meet Hansen, and snatch both the cure and Songbird. To control the netrunners' car, V must hack the system of Charon Exotics, the car company. Alex sends V to install an encryption key at its tracking stations.

The Tracking Stations

At the first station, on a roof guarded by enemies, Songbird gets in touch. She updates V's Militech software, which gives V new Relic points, and asks V to meet her in private. A second station has to be reached as well. With high enough Intelligence, it can be accessed from afar. Otherwise its transceiver is dead, and V has to find the control panel that restarts it. A kid named Luka offers to play a game of hot and cold to lead V there, for a fee.

Songbird's Confession

Songbird meets V late at night at a spot she likes, and talks about old times. When V confronts her, she confesses that she was the one who told Hansen when and where Space Force One would be. Her real plan was for the two of them to run off with the cure and save the President along the way, but her capture changed everything. Now she plans to escape from Hansen and take the cure to a ripperdoc who can help both of them.

A Night at the Moth

While waiting for Reed, V gets a message from Alex inviting V to the Moth to unwind. The two talk about who they would want to be if they were not who they are now, and V can dance with her.

Farida's Clinic

Reed calls and sends V to Farida, a ripperdoc, for an implant that lets V use the netrunners' biometrics. Reed also plans to take Songbird with him, but thinks she has to be put on ice first, and has Farida fit V with a module to do it. During the operation, V and Johnny talk over their position. On one side is a woman trying to survive as a living bomb, who may take V with her when she goes off. On the other is a man of principle, trying to do the right thing, who may wreck everything. Leaving the clinic ends the job, and the story continues in I've Seen That Face Before.

Choices

The meeting with Songbird is the heart of the job. Her confession that she betrayed the President's flight colours every later choice between her and Reed. The evening with Alex at the Moth is optional. V can talk, bond and dance with her.

At the second tracking station, high Intelligence skips the hunt for the control panel. Luka asks a high price for his hints at first. Refusing makes him drop it to a token sum.

Rewards

Completing Birds with Broken Wings rewards Nokota NDI Osprey and Behavioral Imprint-synced Faceplate.

Farida fits V with the Behavioral Imprint-Synced Faceplate, an Iconic face implant. Songbird's update at the first station adds Relic points to spend on the Relic perk tree.
