Increased Criminal Activity: SCAVENGERS is a Phantom Liberty hustle at the ESC Explorer exhibit in Terra Cognita, Dogtown. A crew here smuggles rifles and grenades out of Night City in trucks marked as humanitarian aid. A heavily modified Arasaka combat drone guards the site, and the crew's own techie could not crack its ICE.
Story
Humanitarian Aid
A mail at the site explains the trick. The trucks are covered in red crosses, with the right logos and bar codes. They even smell of love and charity. Nobody will look under the tarp. The convoy drives to the border, waves to a friend in the border patrol, and only the crew knows it carries rifles and grenades instead of bandages and medicine.
Friends at the Border
A file lists the crew's friends among the border guards and their shifts. One is decent, one is greedy and needs more money, and one is reliable because the crew has dirt on him. The crew only crosses the border while these men are on duty.
Gear for the Police
The crew also arms the police. Its weapons come from Sophia Dupont and her sons, the black market dealers at the stadium. A mail lists vests, guns, ammunition and parts for old cyberdecks ordered for the NCPD, and the crew jokes about police gear many years out of date. In a shard, an officer called Jane Cook threatens to seize the whole aid convoy if they cheat her again. The crew's Ania Vasilieva laughs it off. The deal was made long ago, far above a beat cop's head, and her gear will be in the convoy.
The Drone
The techie's notes admit defeat. The vendor at the stadium was right: he could tear the Arasaka drone to pieces and still not break its ICE. Now he must call the netrunners of the Voodoo Boys. A last shard records Ivan telling Misha about a firefight at the ESC. The whole crew is dead, and the tech is still there. Whoever did it was no ordinary killer.
