Raymond Chandler Evening is a side job in which Pepe Najarro, the bartender of El Coyote Cojo in the Glen, asks V to find out whether his wife, Cynthia, is cheating on him. It starts when V walks into the bar and finds two Valentinos harassing a drunk customer. Johnny narrates the stake out like a hard boiled detective, and the truth V finds is not the one Pepe expects.

Story

A Noir Story

The journal finds it funny that the bartender is spilling his troubles to a customer for once. Pepe thinks his wife is cheating and wants someone to confirm his fears. Johnny calls it a classic: a jealous husband, a beautiful woman, a city in darkness. He feels he has read this story before.

Inside the bar, two Valentinos, Juan and Pedro, are harassing a drunk corporate man, Joseph Odman, passed out at a table. Pepe tells them to stop and asks V to step in. Once the thugs are dealt with, the corporate man pays V for the help and passes out again. Pepe offers V a drink, and a job. His child does not look like him, and his wife has been lying about staying late at the office. He wants V to follow her and find out who she is seeing. She is wearing a pink jacket and carrying a blue purse.

The Stake Out

As V leaves the bar, Johnny begins narrating in the voice of an old detective film. V finds Cynthia near where she works, scans her, and follows her at a safe distance. She enters a stairwell next to a noodle shop, and V hears her arguing with a man inside.

Cynthia's Secret

V can confront Cynthia and walk out, saying V has seen enough. Or V can hear her out. The man is not her lover, but her ripperdoc. Her whole appearance is artificial, the result of implants, and she has hidden it from Pepe for years.

Choices

What to Tell Pepe

V can tell Pepe the truth or tell him to talk to Cynthia himself. If V tells the truth, Pepe is shocked that his wife lied to him for so long. V can say he has a right to feel cheated, or that Cynthia loves him and he should not give up on their marriage.

If V urges him to save the marriage, Cynthia later calls to thank V and sends a bonus on top of Pepe's payment. Otherwise she is bitterly disappointed: Pepe threw her out, and she is living on the streets.

For the best outcome, save the drunk man, agree to Pepe's request, follow Cynthia unseen, tell her that her husband sent V, then tell Pepe the truth and that she loves him.

Rewards

Completing Raymond Chandler Evening pays €$ 2,200 to 7,840, 576 experience and 864 Street Cred.

Tips

The job is time sensitive, so make a manual save before starting. The Valentinos carry flaming gorilla arms, so time counters carefully. They stop at the door, so V can step outside to fight them with guns.
