Woman of La Mancha is a Gun for Hire gig from Regina Jones in Kabuki, Watson. Anna Hamill is an honest NCPD officer, a rare thing in Night City, and she is digging into the smuggling racket of Kabuki Market. Her crooked colleagues want her stopped. Regina asks V to do it, but to keep her alive if possible.

Story

A Bad Fit

Regina describes Anna in the journal as a true blue cop, the kind seen in NCPD adverts: beautiful, smart and honest to a fault. In other words, a very bad fit for Night City. Her colleagues are another story. They all have back problems from sitting on fat wallets.

Anna's current case has them breaking out in hives. If she gets anywhere with the smuggling racket in Kabuki Market, it means bad business for her colleagues' finances, and they want someone from outside the precinct to stop it. Regina adds one thing of her own. She feels a bit sorry for the woman, and would rather she did not die. V should convince her to skip town, or at least drop the case and change careers.

Asking Around

Several people in the market know where Anna is. Imad is arguing with a food vendor, Martia Liu, who only wants to sell food. Imad can be bribed, scared by a Streetkid V who threatens to tell the Tyger Claws he is hiding Anna, or talked round by a Nomad V who asks about the Bakker clan clothes he wears. Eve asks whether V is a cop, then takes money for what she knows. Robert Rainwater tells V for free, if V has enough Street Cred: he calls V a "fixer fairy" and says Anna knows how to ruffle feathers, but is a good person. Anna is staying in room 303 on the third floor of Motel Kabuki.

Room 303

The motel's front door opens for anyone who pays for a room. The back door opens with enough Technical Ability, or V can climb the building in front and cross over. Anna's room number is also on the terminal in the receptionist's office. Inside, Anna waits with her gun drawn, and V faces three quick choices in a row.

The Market

Take the gig from Regina and go to Kabuki Market.
Ask around about Anna: Imad, Eve or Robert Rainwater.

The Motel

Go to Motel Kabuki. Pay for a room at the front door, open the back door with Technical Ability, or cross over from the building in front.
Check the terminal in the receptionist's office for her room number if needed.
Go up to room 303 on the third floor and open the door, then stand still.

Anna

Answer "Here to warn you."
Answer "Just wanna help you."
Answer "It doesn't matter." as a Nomad to talk her into leaving Night City, or pick the other line to make her drop the case.
Leave the area.

Choices

Anna's Fate

The peaceful way needs "Here to warn you." and then "Just wanna help you." A Nomad V can then convince her to leave Night City for good. Otherwise, she stands down, but stays in the city.

If she stays, a dead NCPD officer turns up under a pile of trash in Kabuki Market about a day later. A shard on the body shows she has started a war against her crooked colleagues. A few days later, the radio reports her death in a shootout at an NCPD precinct.

V can also simply kill her, which completes the gig as well.

Rewards

Completing Woman of La Mancha pays €$ 7,800, 1,000 experience and 590 Street Cred.

The gig pays eddies, experience and Street Cred.

Tips

Anna opens fire if V interrupts the talk: by moving within about seven metres of her, by staying silent, or by drawing a weapon. If V bribed or threatened Imad, he turns up dead by the nearby drop point a day later.

Two hidden gems are tied to this gig: a body in a dumpster on the third floor of the market, reached by a lift on its east side, and the body of a cop half hidden under trash bags, which only appears if Anna stays in the city.
