The Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Flame Art affinity and the Black Flame Tornado skill. It is one of the late rewards, found in Crumbling Farum Azula.
Black Flame Tornado spins the weapon overhead, then plunges it into the ground to raise a roaring vortex of black flames. Holding the button first summons a flame tornado around the wielder that hits repeatedly before the final plunge. Every hit inflicts black flame, which burns a share of the target's maximum HP, making it strong against high-HP bosses. Its fire damage scales with Faith, so it suits Faith builds wielding polearms or twinblades.
Stats
It grants the Flame Art affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality or Fire. The skill costs 30 FP and can be charged. It fits Twinblade, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd and Reaper.

Skill
Use the held version when enemies are pinned close or crowding around, and release early to plunge straight into the vortex. The skill can be cancelled with a roll before the final slam or during the held spins. Using it removes any buff applied to the weapon, so greases and blade incantations should not be stacked before casting.
Good With
| Weapons | Twinblade, Partisan, Halberd, Lance, Grave Scythe |
|---|---|
| Affinity | Flame Art is the best pick, since it strongly raises the Faith scaling of the black flames. |

Notes
- Using the skill removes any weapon buff on the armament.
- It is the innate skill of the Godskin Peeler.
