Pieces

The hat adds magical critical chance and critical damage. The gloves and chest add wand damage, and the chest adds a lot of health. The pants refill mana fast, and the boots speed up health regeneration. Staff users get more from the Thaumaturge Set.

Levelling and Upgrades

Every piece starts at item level 30. Each upgrade at the Alchemist costs Runes and adds one item level, more armour and one enhancement, such as faster mana regeneration or a level of the Wand Mastery skill. A crafted piece is rare and takes three upgrades, up to level 33. A legendary copy from loot takes five, up to level 35, and its last steps also cost Legendary Runes.

Lore

The Hailcaster descriptions picture a mage dressed for the cold mountains. The hat is a sophisticated crown that frames the head with a golden halo and amethyst sparks. It stands for the dawning sun, bathing the mountainsides in a long-awaited morning glow. The chest is a thick but flowing tunic tied with gold string, made for quick magical dashes in the bitter cold. Dark padded pants with golden seams keep the legs warm. The boots give grip in a fierce snowstorm, and the layered gloves keep spellcasting quick and nimble.

Notes

Balthazar the Alchemist must be rescued before the Hailcaster Set can be crafted.
Staff users are pointed to the similar Thaumaturge Set instead.
The Hailcaster Set raises Frost Resistance, which delays hypothermia in the Albaneve Summits.
