The Thaumaturge Set is an Albaneve Summits magic armor set for staff casters. Its strength is high staff damage and magical critical hits backed by a large mana pool, with frost resistance on every piece. The Alchemist crafts it, and pieces also turn up in chests.

Pieces

The hat raises the chance and the damage of magical critical hits. The gloves add a large staff damage bonus and extra damage against magical enemies. The chest adds health and a large block of mana, and the pants add mana and regeneration. The boots refill mana faster and start refilling sooner. Frost resistance delays hypothermia in the Albaneve Summits.

How to Get Thaumaturge Set Guide

The Alchemist makes every piece. Armor recipes unlock on their own each time the Flame is upgraded, one crafting tier at a time. The recipes use Warm Padding, Silver Bars, Amethyst, Obsidian and Enshrouded Ice, with Violet Fabric and an Enshrouded Cyclops Eye for the hat.

Levelling and Upgrades

The Alchemist upgrades mage armor for Runes. Crafted pieces are rare quality, while chests can hold common to legendary ones. The quality sets how many upgrade perks a piece can unlock. Legendary pieces unlock the most and need Legendary Runes for the later steps. The perks here add resistance to blunt, piercing, cutting and Shroud damage, more mana, and extra levels in skills such as Wizard, Quick Charge and Arsonist. Upgraded gear peaks at level 55, far above the Albaneve Summits tier. The staff line continues with the Tidecaller Set in the Veilwater Basin, and then with the Flame Arcanist armor of Cinder's Cradle. Outgrown pieces salvage back into runes.

Lore

The Thaumaturge descriptions describe a mage dressed for frost-ridden lands. The hat is an extravagant tricorn that shields the head from snowfall. Its imposing antlers are a trophy of the wearer's spirit animal. The chest pairs a silky white undergarment with a flowing cerulean cape for warmth and drama. The pants are padded inside, traditionally with hides of the spirit animal, though wool will do. An amethyst sits in the gloves to help mana flow when casting.

Tips

The Thaumaturge Set is made for staff casters, since its gloves give a large staff damage bonus. Wand users get more from the Hailcaster Set of the same tier. Every piece adds frost resistance, which delays hypothermia in the cold of the Albaneve Summits. The recipes need Warm Padding, which the Hunter makes once she has a Spinning Machine. The staff line continues with the Tidecaller Set in the Veilwater Basin.
