Skeletons shrug off an edge, which is exactly why the Bronze Mace is the weapon to carry into a Black Forest Burial Chamber. It deals 35 blunt damage. At 35 total damage it ranks 10th among clubs, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt damage hurts Rancid Remains, the Skeleton and the Frost Blob more than most things, which is the reason to carry it.
How to Craft
It is made at a level 1 Forge from:
- 4x Wood, chopped from any tree.
- 8x Bronze, made at a Forge.
- 3x Leather Scraps, dropped by Boars and Bats and dug out of muddy scrap piles.

When to Use It
It is an early-game weapon. It needs Black Forest materials, so it comes after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one level higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows the full upgrade path your own copy is on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Blunt | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 1) | 35 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Forge (Level 2) | 41 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Forge (Level 3) | 47 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Forge (Level 4) | 53 | 350 |

Properties
This is the first real blunt weapon. It deals 35 blunt for 8 stamina, 3 times the damage of the Club. Its secondary attack deals 2.5x damage and 2x stagger for double the stamina, the best straight trade of any melee secondary in the game.
Carry it beside a sword, not instead of one. Blunt is the answer to Skeletons, which take 50% extra, and to Blobs. Those are exactly the 2 things a sword cannot handle in the early game.
Notes
- Each primary swing moves you 0.66 m forward, which closes the distance the knockback just opened.
- The secondary narrows to a 30 degree arc, down from the primary's 90, so it is a single-target finisher rather than a crowd tool.
- A two-handed hammer lands its blow 2 metres in front of you and damages a 4-metre radius around that point, so positioning matters more than aim.
