Made from the copper and tin of the Black Forest on a plain wooden shaft, the Bronze Spear keeps a Boar or a Greydwarf at arm's length, and you can throw it at anything you would rather not let come closer. It deals 35 pierce damage. At 35 total damage it ranks 8th among spears, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts the Troll more than most things, which is the reason to carry it.
How to Craft
It is made at a level 1 Forge from:
- 5x Wood, chopped from any tree.
- 6x Bronze, made at a Forge.
- 2x Deer Hide, dropped by Deer.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood

| Deer Hide | Meadows | - | spawn DeerHide

When to Use It
It is an early-game weapon. It needs Black Forest materials, so it comes after Eikthyr and the Antler Pickaxe.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station one level higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows the full upgrade path your own copy is on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Pierce | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 1) | 35 | 100 | |
| 2 | Forge (Level 2) | 41 | 150 | |
| 3 | Forge (Level 3) | 47 | 200 | |
| 4 | Forge (Level 4) | 53 | 250 |
Properties
It deals 35 pierce for 8 stamina. That is almost double the Flint Spear and still one of the cheapest attacks in the game, which makes the spear the Black Forest answer to a Troll: poke, back away, poke again.
The secondary attack throws it for 1.5x damage, and you get it back. The whole cycle, pick-up included, takes about a second. A thrown spear also floats, so one aimed at a Serpent from a boat can be recovered rather than lost to the sea.
Notes
- The throw's 1.04 seconds includes picking the spear back up, so the listed speed covers the whole cycle, not just the release.
- Thrown spears float, so one thrown at a Serpent can be recovered rather than lost to the sea.
- The primary moves you forward 0.33 m, the least of any melee class, so it does not walk you into a second enemy.
