All the Stone Axe asks for is wood and stone picked up off the ground. That makes it the first tool most Vikings own, and the one that opens their first clearing in the Meadows. It deals 15 slash and 20 chop damage. It is the weakest axe, which is the point: it is the one you can make first.
How to Craft
You craft it by hand, straight from your inventory.
- 5x Wood: chop it from any tree.
- 4x Stone: mine it from rocks and boulders, or dig it out of the ground.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood
| |
| Stone | All biomes | - | spawn Stone

When to Use It
Use it in your opening hours. Everything it needs comes out of the Meadows, so it is gear for a character who has only just stood up.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, each time by hand from your inventory. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Chop (trees) | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | By hand | 15 | 20 | 100 | |
| 2 | By hand | 20 | 23 | 130 |
|
| 3 | By hand | 25 | 26 | 160 |
|
| 4 | By hand | 30 | 29 | 190 |

Properties
It is the first tool you make, and for a while your only weapon. Each swing costs 5 stamina, the cheapest hit in the game, and it comes straight out of the crafting menu without any station.
Chop is for wood, not for blood. Of its 35 total damage, 20 is chop, which does nothing at all to a creature. In a fight it is a 15 slash weapon. That is enough for a Boar or a Greyling, but for nothing past the Meadows.
It can fell only Beech, Fir and Pine. Birch and Oak shrug it off entirely, and that is the first thing in the game telling you to go and make something better.
Notes
- Its secondary attack is a slow overhead chop, and it is the swing that reaches a tree stump too low for a normal arc.
