Fir Cone drops from the Fir trees that crowd the Black Forest. It is a seed rather than a building material, and the start of a woodlot you never have to walk to.
Farming
It grows one plant and needs no tilled soil. Put the seed in bare ground and leave four to six metres clear around it, or the sapling will not take.

How to Get It
Chop down a Fir with any axe, even a stone one, and cones drop among the wood when the trunk breaks apart. Firs grow thickest in the Black Forest but also stand in the Meadows, the Mountain and the Plains, so you keep finding cones long after the early game. Planting one needs a Cultivator and a few clear metres around the spot, and the sapling takes the better part of an hour to grow into a tree worth cutting.
