Ladies of the Wood is one of the major main quests in Velen. Hendrik's notes spoke of a witch, and Geralt learns that they meant the Crones of Crookback Bog. A trail of treats leads him to an orphanage in the bog, run by a woman called Gran. The Crones want a favor before they say anything about Ciri. They had planned to hand her to Imlerith, a general of the Wild Hunt, but she escaped the swamp.
Ladies of the Wood Map Location and Quest Guide
Ladies of the Wood map location:
- Read the book The Ladies of the Wood.
- Find the shrine that marks the start of the Trail of Treats.
- Follow the trail with Witcher Senses to the orphanage in the bog.
- Talk to the children and to Gran.
- Go into the hut and try to talk to the boy.
- Play hide and seek with the children and find all four with Witcher Senses.
- Talk to the boy while the children lead Gran away.
- Follow Johnny's trail into the bog and kill the drowners on the way.
- Lure Johnny out of his burrow.
- Follow Johnny through the swamp.
- Climb the cliff, kill the harpies and take the bottle from the nest.
- Give the bottle to Johnny to bring back his voice.
- Follow Johnny back to the orphanage.
- Talk to the Crones in the locked building.
- Ride to Downwarren and talk to the ealdorman.
- Deal with the spirit under the hill in The Whispering Hillock.
- Talk to the ealdorman again and take his payment, his own ear.
- Put the ear on the stone at the orphanage.
- Listen to the Crones' tale about Ciri.

Notes
- Gran is Anna Strenger, the baron's missing wife. A mark burns on her hand that Geralt recognizes.
- The Whispering Hillock starts during this quest and must be finished before the Crones talk.
- Bringing the news of Anna back to the baron moves Family Matters forward.
