Belly of the Beast is the last main job on the Aldecaldos path of the ending, after Forward to Death. V, Panam Palmer and the Aldecaldos drill their way into the sublevels of Arasaka Tower, set Alt Cunningham loose in the system, and fight Adam Smasher at the gate to Mikoshi. The final choice there decides the ending.

Story

The Heart of Darkness

Johnny's journal entry speaks from the back seat of V's mind. V is almost there, in the heart of darkness, close to the moment of truth. Johnny is still there with V, always, even as a passenger who has blacked out. Whatever V does, he asks V to do it for both of them.

The Drill

The Basilisk rolls into the tunnel, and V talks to Panam inside it. Outside, Mitch and Saul wait by the stairs. In the control room, V and Panam start a huge drilling machine, the SERC, and bore into the base of the tower. After a talk with Saul and Panam, the infiltration begins.

The Sublevels

V climbs past the tower's earthquake dampers, where drones patrol, and works up a shaft with Saul and Panam to a control room. With the two guards there dealt with, the Aldecaldos regroup, and Saul sends V on to the security room. There, V slots a shard into the terminal to let Alt into the system, and waits with Saul and Mitch while she works.

Mikoshi

The team leaves the manufacturing level for the netrunner's nest and Mikoshi. When the shutter opens, Adam Smasher is waiting. Saul is killed, and Panam fights Smasher at V's side. After Smasher falls, V decides his fate, picks up Saul's gun, talks to Panam and connects to Mikoshi. Inside, V makes the final choice. One choice leads to All Along the Watchtower, where V leaves with the Aldecaldos. The other leads to New Dawn Fades, where Johnny keeps the body.

The Tunnel

  1. Talk to Panam inside the Basilisk.
  2. Exit the Basilisk and join Mitch and Saul by the stairs.
  3. Talk to the Aldecaldos.
  4. Go to the control room with Panam, climb onto the SERC and start it.
  5. Talk to Saul and Panam.

The Sublevels

  1. Get inside the Arasaka building.
  2. At the earthquake dampers, look for the maintenance shaft and the ladder on the far left. Sneak past or destroy the patrolling drones.
  3. Climb the ladder and work through the shaft with Saul and Panam to the control room.
  4. Hide by the crate until the two guards finish talking, then take one out while Saul gets the other.
  5. Access the terminal and wait for the Aldecaldos to regroup.
  6. Talk to Saul.

The Security Room

  1. Reach the security room: through the grate in the far corner of the upper floor, through the door on the lower floor, or by forcing the gate in the control room with enough Body.
  2. On the lower route, use the many objects for cover past the guards.
  3. On the shortcut, deal with the single guard and a strong netrunner.
  4. Slot the shard into the terminal and wait for Alt.
  5. Talk to the Aldecaldos.

Mikoshi

  1. Leave the manufacturing level and reach the netrunner's nest.
  2. Reach Mikoshi and prepare before opening the shutter.
  3. Defeat Adam Smasher with Panam's help.
  4. Decide Smasher's fate if desired.
  5. Pick up Saul's gun and talk to Panam.
  6. Get to the Mikoshi access point and connect.

Choices

The Ending

At Mikoshi, V decides who keeps the body. Returning to it leads to All Along the Watchtower and a life on the road with the Aldecaldos. Letting Johnny keep it leads to New Dawn Fades.

Smasher

Smasher can be killed or left alive after the fight. His access token can be looted. It stays with V when the game returns to the point of no return after the credits, and it opens Smasher's secret office aboard the ship Ebunike, where a crafting spec lies.

Rewards

Completing Belly of the Beast rewards Access Token (optional).

Tips

Loot Smasher's access token after the fight. With enough Body, forcing the gate in the control room is the quickest way to the security room.
