Crafting Specs
Crafting specs are the blueprints that let V craft an item. A new weapon or quickhack can only be crafted once its spec is owned. Weapon vendors sell most weapon specs, and netrunner vendors sell the quickhack specs. The rarest weapon specs drop from the leaders of Suspected Organized Crime Activities. Every spec below links to the item it makes, where the item's own page holds its stats, map and builds.
Crafting
Crafting happens in a tab of the Inventory in the game menu. No workbench is needed, so V can craft anywhere. Any build can craft. Crafting takes no Technical Ability points and no crafting perks. It needs only the spec and enough components.
A crafted weapon is no better and no worse than a found one. It has the same stats as a looted or bought weapon of the same model and tier. Crafting a regular weapon costs 30 components of the weapon's tier. Crafting a Tier 5 Iconic weapon costs 40 Tier 5 components. Weapon mods work differently. Two copies of the same mod are combined into one copy a tier higher.
Components
Weapons and quickhacks draw on two separate pools. Weapons use item components. Quickhacks use quickhack components. Crafting an item spends only components of the same tier as that item.
Item components come from taking items apart and from loot. Enemies and containers both drop them. The tier of a dismantled item sets the tier of the components it gives. Vendors do not sell item components. The same item components pay for cyberware upgrades at a ripperdoc and for Iconic weapon upgrades.
Quickhack components come from Breach Protocol on access points. Enemy netrunners drop them as well.
Weapons
Weapon vendors sell most weapon specs. Weapon specs also turn up as random loot.
The leader of a Suspected Organized Crime Activity carries a fixed weapon spec. Each of these specs drops from one named enemy in one district, and the table names both. Many of them are the specs for Iconic weapons, such as Breakthrough, Buzzsaw and Sovereign. A few specs hide in story places. The Ba Xing Chong spec lies in Adam Smasher's locked room on the DV Ebunike. The Erebus spec waits in a maintenance room of the Cynosure facility during Somewhat Damaged.
Picking up an Iconic weapon unlocks the spec for the next tier of that weapon. Iconic weapons are also the only weapons that can be upgraded to a higher tier. The Iconic Items page gathers every Iconic weapon in one place.
